Site Supervisor – New Build Construction

The Opportunity

We are currently recruiting for a Site Supervisor to join an established M&E contractor working on a major new-build construction project.

This is a great opportunity for someone with site supervision experience who is looking to take the next step in their career, or an experienced Site Supervisor who enjoys being hands-on and keeping a site running safely and efficiently without getting caught up in the wider programme and project-management side.

This is not a traditional M&E Supervisor role. You won't be responsible for coordinating multiple M&E trades, managing the programme, ordering materials or dealing with complex project management.

Instead, your role will be focused on people, safety, standards and keeping the site organised.

What You'll Be Doing

• Supervising and managing a team of labourers on a busy new-build construction site
• Allocating day-to-day tasks and making sure the workforce remains productive
• Maintaining high standards of housekeeping and site presentation
• Ensuring site rules, health & safety procedures and company standards are followed
• Carrying out regular checks of the work areas and addressing issues as they arise
• Supporting site management with the smooth running of day-to-day activities
• Ensuring labourers have the correct PPE and are working safely
• Challenging unsafe working practices and escalating any concerns where necessary
• Helping maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment
• Liaising with the wider site team and other contractors when required
• Providing general supervision and being a visible presence on site
• Leading by example and maintaining good standards of behaviour and professionalism

About You

We're looking for someone who is practical, organised and confident managing people.

You don't necessarily need an M&E background for this position. A strong construction/site supervision background is far more important.

You could be an experienced Site Supervisor, a Junior Supervisor looking for more responsibility, or someone who has progressed through the trades and is ready to move into a more supervisory position.

You'll need:

• Previous experience supervising people on a construction site
• SSSTS or SMSTS
• A strong understanding ofhealth & safety
• Good communication and man-management skills
• The confidence to challenge poor standards or unsafe behaviour
• A proactive approach to housekeeping and site organisation
• The ability to manage a team and keep people motivated
• A professional and reliable approach to work
• The confidence to work alongside other site trades and contractors

Why This Role?

This is a straightforward, hands-on supervisory position without the additional pressure of programme management, procurement or technical M&E coordination.

It could be particularly well suited to someone who is early in their supervisory career and wants to build their experience, while still having responsibility and ownership of an important part of the site operation.
