Job Description:

An exciting opportunity has arisen in Coventry for an experienced Estimator to join a growing building and construction business where you will play a key role in preparing competitive tenders, producing accurate cost estimates, and supporting the successful delivery of residential and commercial projects.

Description

The Estimator will:

• Prepare accurate cost estimates from drawings, specifications and scope documentation.
• Complete detailed quantity take-offs for materials, labour and equipment.
• Obtain and assess supplier and subcontractor quotations.
• Produce tender submissions, budgets and cost plans.
• Support pre-construction planning, risk analysis and value engineering activities.
• Collaborate with internal design, production and project management teams to validate project costs.
• Monitor and review project costs against original estimates.
• Prepare bid proposals and tender documentation.
• Maintain and update costing databases in line with market rates.
• Monitor tender portals and identify new business opportunities.
• Build and maintain strong relationships across the supply chain.
• Support bid writing activities to maximise tender success rates.

Profile

A successful Estimator should have:

• At least five years' experience in an Estimator role within the UK building and construction sector.
• Experience preparing tenders and managing bid documentation.
• Strong understanding of construction methods, materials and cost drivers.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and estimating software such as CostX, Bluebeam, Buildertrend or similar.
• Able to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Strong analytical, numerical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent organisational, communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• High levels of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Experience within modular or off-site construction would be advantageous.
• A degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering or a related discipline would be beneficial.
